Craftlure Timber — Design Studio · Est. 2026

Where the idea takes its grain.

— From a first pencil line to a complete, build-ready plan. We don't make the object; we design its future, then hand it to whoever brings it to life.

Artisan wood design and woodworking guidance for people who value craft, intention, and pieces that could not exist anywhere else.

Philosophy — Co-authorship
"Wood is a living conversation.
Our work is to become its translator."

At Craftlure Timber, every project begins with a story. Yours. We don't arrive with a finished answer or a catalogue to pick from.

We listen, we measure, we study how you actually move through a space — and only then do we shape a concept that could belong nowhere else.

Our role is to be your creative partner on the route from an abstract idea to a precise, build-ready plan that any skilled maker can execute with confidence.

— A studio, not a showroom.
Process

How a concept
is born

Four deliberate stages. No guesswork between them — every step ends with something you can see, hold, or sign off on before the next begins.

01

Consultation

We dive into your idea — the room, the use, the references that move you. We map intent before we ever draw a line.

02

Concept

We propose a few visual directions, test forms and proportions, and select the species and finishes that fit the brief.

03

Drafting

We produce a detailed plan — dimensioned drawings, joinery notes, or a 3D model — accurate enough to build from directly.

04

Handover

You receive the complete project file and ongoing guidance — for fabrication, sourcing, or restoring an existing piece.

Materials

The language
of grain

We choose species the way a writer chooses words. Select one to see how it behaves — and where it belongs in a concept.

Why Craftlure Timber

Your vision.Our expertise.

Deep expertise

We know wood — from species behaviour and movement to modern joinery and finishing. Concepts leave the studio technically sound and built to last.

Resource efficiency

A detailed plan is insurance against mistakes at the bench, wasted material and lost weeks. You get a predictable result and a budget you can hold.

Uniqueness, no compromise

We never reach for a template. Every concept is shaped from scratch to solve your problem — and no one else's. The result is yours alone.

No. We are a design and planning studio. We develop the concept, dimensioned drawings and specifications; the actual fabrication is carried out by you or by a maker of your choosing. That separation keeps our advice independent of any single workshop.

A complete design package: a defined concept direction, dimensioned drawings or a 3D model where the project calls for it, a material and finish schedule, and written guidance notes for the build. Everything a competent shop needs to quote and proceed.

Yes, and we prefer it when you already have one. Our documentation is prepared to hand cleanly to any skilled shop, and we remain available to answer their questions during the build so intent is never lost in translation.

A single consultation is turned around within a few days. A full furniture or interior concept usually runs three to six weeks, depending on scope, the number of revision rounds and how quickly decisions are confirmed along the way.

No. The majority of our work is handled remotely through calls, shared references and drawing files. In-studio sessions at our Louisville address are available by appointment when a project benefits from reviewing physical samples together.

That is the ideal place to begin. The first consultation exists precisely to turn a loose notion — a feeling, a reference photo, an awkward corner — into a clear, buildable direction with a defined material language and form.

The initial discovery conversation is complimentary. It lets us understand the project and lets you gauge how we think before any commitment. Paid work begins only once we have agreed on scope and a clear deliverable together.

Client reflections

Trusted with the first idea.

Our work is judged long before anything is built — in whether the drawing is clear, the material is right and the maker can proceed without doubt.
